Brian Senie Wins Second Career Circuit Ring in High Roller Event

Cherokee, North Carolina (August 15, 2016) – Brian Senie has just won his second World Series of Poker Circuit ring when he took down the High Roller Event at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

Senie is a professional cash poker player that traveled to this Circuit stop to play the Global Casino Championship last Tuesday. Senie won his first Circuit ring in March of this year when he took down the Main Event for $85,800 at Tbilisi Sports Palace in the country of Georgia. The tournament director at that casino is a good friend of Senie’s and recommended that he come there to play cash while the Circuit was going on. He decided to randomly register the Main Event, went on to win it, and won a seat into the Global Casino Championship. That’s what led him here to Cherokee these last ten days.

Last week when the Global Championship took place, Senie made it all the way into late on Day two, when he was ultimately eliminated in 10th place, taking home $23,262. Other than the Global Championship, this High Roller event was the only one he played here at this stop. He plowed through the field on Day one holding onto the chip lead for nearly the entire day, and ultimately ending as Chip leader with 183,100. Eventual 2nd place finisher Youngsoo Kim came into Day 2 second in chips behind Senie with 128,500.

At the final table when they were five handed there was a big swing in chips and Senie took the chip lead from Youngsoo Kim, and he never let go of it from that point forward. When they got down to three handed play, Senie had 1,300,000, and the other two players shared the other 1,300,000 almost equally. David Hubbard was eliminated in 3rd place, and less than 40 minutes later Senie defeated Youngsoo Kim heads up when he shoved   , and Kim called with   . Senie turned a seven, and Kim was eliminated in 2nd place, taking home $39,680.

Senie said that he was the most excited about the cash prize associated with winning this event. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that he was recently married to his now wife Lauren, after dating for seven years. Senie and Lauren had planned a trip to travel for two weeks abroad, and decided to just elope in Croatia. They were married, spent four more days in Croatia, returned back to the States for only a few days, and then Senie came right here to Cherokee for the Championship event. He will be heading home with a second new ring after taking down this event.

Kevin Davis (winner of Event #3) is still in the lead of Harrah's Cherokee Casino Champion race with 60 points. Davis won Event #3, and then cashed 13th in Event #6 ($365 PLO), propelling him to the top of the leaderboard with 60 points. Marco Palacios actually tied Davis earning 60 points total when he finished 6th in the High Roller event today, but Davis has more earnings for the stop, and therefore is still leading. Tied for second are Christopher Churchwell (winner of Event #8, who also cashed 229th in the Re-Entry Event #2), John Bailey (winner of Event #1 who also cashed 66th in the Monster Stack event), and Justin Warf (winner of Event #5 who also cashed 44th in the Monster Stack – Event #8). All three of these players currently have 52.5 points in the 2016/2017 Casino Champion race. There is one additional event that is currently playing down to a conclusion, so it’s possible that the lead could still change. The player who accumulates the most overall points in the twelve gold ring tournaments at Harrah’s Cherokee earns the title of Casino Champion and receives an automatic entry into the $1 million 2017 WSOP Global Casino Championship (valued at $10,000). The winner of the Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event earns an automatic entry to the Global Casino Championship as well. All players who cash in ring events will receive points that apply to both the Casino Champion race and the season-long race to claim one of the 50 at-large Global Casino Championship bids awarded to the top point earners throughout the season. More information on the points system is available on WSOP.com.
