Jeremy Meacham Leads 30 Through Day 1A

Jeremy Meacham
Friday was Day 1A of the WSOP Circuit Foxwoods $1,675 Main Event. A total of 189 entries were tallied by the time registration closed, and play concluded with just 30 survivors.
Jeremy Meacham had the most productive day of the bunch, turning his 20,000-chip starting stack into 289,000 over the course of the 15-level day. Meacham got off to a hot start, cracking pocket kings with ace-king to gain an early leg up. A few hours later, he knocked three players out in the same hand with his own pocket kings, and his end-of-day count gives him a big edge over the chase pack.
Others who found a bag at the end of the night include Johanssy Joseph (160,500), Jordan Meltzer (101,500), Caleb Clarke (96,000), Mike Dentale (65,500).
Things did not go so well for most of the familiar faces in the field, however. Tom Dobrilovic was in and out twice in short order, and the same can be said for Jason Gooch, Galen Hall, Kevin Calenzo, and Mike Azzaro, among others. Both of the brothers Pahuja — Mukul and Vinny — also fell right near the end of the day.
Here's the overnight top five from Day 1A:
1: Jeremy Meacham - 289,000
2: Chris Leong - 228,000
3: Joe Coulombe - 216,000
4: Bryan Rowland - 213,500
5: Andrew Ostapchenko - 202,500
They and the rest of the survivors have earned themselves a day of rest on Saturday, while those who have not yet advanced to Day 2 will be back in the room for another try — or two. Late registration and single re-entry are available for the first 12 levels.
Day 1B begins at noon.
