  Norm Michalek Bags The Overall Chip Lead in the Colossus

The sixth and final starting flight of the second installment of the Colossus is in the books and Norman Michalek leads the survivors of Day 1F. Michalek finished the day with 531,000 and takes the overall chip lead into the start of Day 2.

The day kicked off at 4 p.m. and attracted 4,487 players to the Rio. It brings the total field size for the overall tournament to 21,613 players and generated a total prizepool of $10,806,500.

Every starting flight played into the money and the spots that weren't paid out in their respective starting flights will be rolled over and paid to the players who survived into Day 2. The winner of this event is guaranteed a payday of at least $1 million.

The day started with 4,487, but by the time the final hand was dealt, there were 192 players remaining, with the aforementioned Michalek leading the field. There were 654 survivors from the first five flights, which leaves 846 players alive at the start of Day 2.

The payouts for Day 2 will be calculated overnight and released in the morning, but as of right now, everybody remaining is guaranteed a cash of at least $2,155, but that amount could increase after the numbers are crunched overnight.

Joining Michalek at at the top of the 1F counts are Ryan Hobert (439,000), Scott Tiedeman (387,900), David Lopez (348,000), and Robert Gill (340,000). Other well-known pros who survived the day and will be coming back to the Rio for Day 2 include Bracelet winner Taylor Paur (291,000), former poker reporter Rich Ryan (289,000), Melanie Weisner (137,000), Joseph Cheong (125,000), Ralph Massey (100,000), and Jack Salter (98,000).

Players that weren't lucky enough to make it through the day included Shannon Shorr, Seth Berger, Cate Hall, Eric Baldwin, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, Barry Greenstein, Zo Karim, David Tuthill, and actor James Woods.

Day 2 restarts on Sunday at 2 p.m. and the levels will be increased to 60 minutes long. WSOP.com will have complete coverage of the day's action as they move deeper into the money.
