Benny Glaser Going for Two
After a long day of action and some intense competition, just three players remain in the hunt for the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo bracelet. Benny Glaser leads the trio and is in search of his second bracelet both of the summer and in this particular game, having already won the $1,500 buy-in Omaha Hi-Lo event last week. He will be back on Wednesday at 2 pm along with Matt Glantz and Doug Lorgeree to play down to a winner.
Day 3 of the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo championship began with 16 players of the original 163 returning to fight it out for the $407,194 top prize and the gold bracelet. The chip leader coming into the day was Matt Glantz, who came into the start of the day with 1,066,000 chips. Greg Trelski (945,000) was second in chips and the defending champion Daniel Alaei (828,000) came back in third.
Throughout the day players fell at a slow, but steady rate. Defending champion Daniel Alaei was eliminated in 12th place. We hit our unofficial final table after around five and half hours of play when last woman standing Esther Taylor-Brady was eliminated in 11th place.
The unofficial final table moved to the main stage in the Amazon Room, where crowds gathered throughout the remainder of play to cheer on (or in the case of Jason Mercier, anti-sweat) the finalists.
Eli Elezra reached the final table short in chips and it didn't take long for him to be eliminated as the 10th place finisher. Then Mercier, who was at his fourth final table of the summer, fell short of a third bracelet, exiting in eighth place. While he didn't earn a third bracelet of the summer, he did earn some points in the WSOP Player of the Year race to pad his lead over the pack.
After Mercier's elimination, four more players hit the rail before the final table hit the hard stop, resulting in an unscheduled fourth day of action on Wednesday. Here is a look at the chip counts when play resumes:
Doug Lorgeree - 3,095,000
Benny Glaser - 3,225,000
Matt Glantz - 1,850,000
The three remaining players will return at 2 pm tomorrow to play to a conclusion. Stay tuned to
WSOP.com for all the action.
