The $1,500 Mixed PLO/8; Omaha 8; Big O tournament drew a total field of 668 players, creating a prize pool of $901,800 and a first-place prize of $189,223.
From that starting crowd of 668, 207 players bagged chips on Day 1, and it is John Monnette leading the way into Day 2 with 87,650.
Monnette had an above-average stack for much of the day before going on a tear in the last two levels of the night, scoring at least three eliminations en route to his bagging the chip lead. Rounding out the unofficial top six stacks are Yuval Bronshtein (81,725), bracelet winner David Bach (75,050), Cody Crouch (74,400), Randy Schatz (70,200), and three-time bracelet winner Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (67,325).
Other notables who bagged up today include Frankie O'Dell (58,900) Eli Elezra (54,400), Mike Leah (54,100), Allen Cunningham (27,900), Steven Wolansky (10,675), Greg Raymer (8,025), and Daniel Negreanu (4,775).
Among those who failed to advance to Day 2 include Jason Mercier, Esther Taylor-Brady, Ari Engel, Marco Johnson, Maria Ho, and Jon Turner.
