Kevin Sherrill continues to dominate at Harrah's Cherokee.

Cherokee, N.C. (April 20, 2016) -- Kevin Sherrill has won the Harrah's Cherokee six max event for $29,739 and his second WSOP Circuit gold ring. The six max event is always one of toughest events in the series and suites professional poker players well. Sherrill is a professional poker and although he doesn't play a whole lot of tournaments, he has excelled in six max events and in all tournaments at Harrah's Cherokee.

This wasn't the first time Sherrill has been at a Harrah's Cherokee six max final table. The first time the Circuit was ever at Harrah's Cherokee was in April of 2013 and Sherrill reached the six max final table that year, but finished second. That was the first event Sherrill had ever cashed in at Harrah's Cherokee and since he has posted a strong and consistent record at the property.

This is the sixth ever WSOP Circuit series at Harrah's Cherokee and Sherrill has cashed at least one time in each series. His biggest score was in April of 2014 when he took down an 894 player field in a $365 no-limit hold'em event for $52k and his first WSOP Circuit gold ring. He has recorded 12 career cashes at Harrah's Cherokee and has reached five final tables.

The only event that has eluded Sherrill at Cherokee is the Main Event. He said that he has gone 0 for 5, but is looking to change that this time around.

Sherrill is from Conover, North Carolina. He always shows up to play the Cherokee series, but does not travel much outside of that. This win has given Sherrill the lead in the Casino Championship standings with half of the series remaining. This win also puts him in contention for one of the 51 at-large bids to the Global Casino Championship. Sherrill has racked up 97.5 points this season by only playing the two Cherokee stops on the schedule. Sherrill said that if he doesn't win Casino Champion here, he may head to New Orleans to chase points. The 2016 Global Casino Championship is at Harrah's Cherokee and if Sherrill can qualify he will have home field advantage.

Sherrill defeated Michael Sewell heads up for the gold ring. Just like Sherrill, Sewell has been one of the most consistent performers at Harrah's Cherokee. Last April Sewell won his first gold ring here and the Casino Championship. He cashed four times and reached two final tables, including the Main Event final table at that series. Both Sherrill and Sewell have now cashed twice at this series.

Event #5 was the fifth of 12 gold ring events on the WSOP Circuit schedule at the Harrah's Cherokee series. The $365 No-Limit Hold'em six max tournament attracted 431 players generating a $129,300 prizepool, which more than doubled the $50,000 guarantee. The top 48 players were paid.

Day 1 began Monday at 11 a.m. and lasted 21 levels. Day 2 began Tuesday at 2 p.m. with 10 players remaining. The tournament concluded at about 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the beginning of Level 28.
