CROFTWORK - BRANDON CROFT LEADS HARRAH
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Day two of the WSOP Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City came to an end Monday. Brandon Croft, a 30-year-old club manager from Sumter, SC, emerged as the chip leader heading into the final table of the $1,650 buy-in no limit hold’em tournament.

The three-day poker championship began Sunday morning with 352 hopefuls vying for their share of the over half million-dollar prize pool. Among them were such East Coast notables as “Miami” John Cernuto, Dwyte Pilgrim and Chris Reslock. 71 players made it through day one and returned Monday to play down to the final nine.

Pros Josh Brikis and Matt Glantz did well to survive into day two near the top of the leader board, but their runs were cut short with Brikis’ elimination in 20th place and Glantz busting out seven shy of the final nine.

The last woman standing, Joanne Doris, succumbed to Croft all-in with 9-10 offsuit vs. Croft’s A-10 off just shortly before midnight Monday, setting the stage for the Main Event final table.

Play will resume promptly at 12:00 pm EST Tuesday with the final nine playing for $117,797 first place prize money, the diamond-encrusted WSOP Circuit Main Event Championship ring and an automatic seat into the season culminating, WSOP Circuit $1,000,000 freeroll national championship event to be held in May at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The seventh of the 2010/2011 WSOPC season, the Circuit Events at Harrah’s Atlantic City have been a success so far midway through its duration. Much of this year’s success at Harrah’s AC and at the previous six events so far this year can be attributed to the revamped format of the WSOPC, which includes standardized, optimized structures, the introduction of four, televised regional championships and the season-ending, WSOPC national championship. This year’s opening event at Harrah’s AC attracted 1,250 players, an attendance record for the resort property.
