Jarrod Minghini Wins Main Event for $153,368 and Third WSOP Circuit Ring
Stateline, NV (October 31, 2022) – Following a three-year absence, the World Series of Poker Circuit returned to Harvey’s Lake Tahoe Resort and Casino. The 11-day event was a tremendous success with large fields throughout the series that awarded 16 prestigious WSOP Circuit rings, along with seats into the 2023 Tournament of Champions.
The $1,700 Main Event attracted 513 entries over three opening flights, which generated a prize pool of $777,195 and paid out 72 spots, surpassing the 2019 Main Event which saw 424 entries and a $642,360 prize pool.
The 2022 Main Event champion was South Lake Tahoe’s own Jarod Minghini, who earned the $153,368 and his third WSOP Circuit ring under trying circumstances. Just two weeks before the series, his brother Bobby passed away. Jarod dedicated the tournament to his late brother, calling his shot to win the Main Event and did so going wire-to-wire after claiming the Day 1A chip lead.
“This tournament was the least worried I’ve ever been about busting and just knew I was going to get there. I knew I was going to win hands and hold when I needed to, and my brother was with me the whole way.”
The win was Minghini’s third on the WSOP Circuit, and boosted his career tournament earnings to over $500,000. His inspirational story highlighted a final table that also included ring winners Taylor Hart (4th place - $50,396) and Scott Stewart (6th place - $$28,419).
Among the many notables that were in the field 2007 WSOP Main Event Champion Jerry Yang made it into the money finishing 49th for $3,154. Others that made it into the money included seven-time ring winner Vincent Moscati (24th - $5,371) and accomplished pros Lee Markholt (11th - $10,859) and Lexy Gavin-Mather (38th - $3,292).
Among the side events, Rex Clinkscales claimed his 2nd WSOP Circuit ring in Event #3: $400 8-Handed.
