2015 WSOP Player of the Year

As we know, poker is an incredibly challenging game with many highs and lows. We all enter a poker tournament with the goal of winning it. At the end, just one is left holding all the chips and posing for winner photos. Thus, to be awarded a Player of the Year award is the ultimate trophy to collect at the WSOP. A Player of the Year proves to all that you can consistently play the game and play it at a high level. At the World Series of Poker, we consider our Player of the Year "banner worthy" meaning year in and year out when players return to play the WSOP, your Player of the Year banner will hang for all to see, alongside the Main Event champions banners. We may be biased, but we believe our Player of the Year award is the hardest to win in poker. You must be able to play a wide variety of poker games, play against the best in the game from around the globe and possess the skill and stamina to do it over the course of the seven-week summer and one international festival as well. To win the WSOP Player of the Year is to leave your mark on the game and be part of history.

The 2015 WSOP kicks off this year on May 27 and we may not know our winner until November 10. All open events accrue points for this award, meaning the event must be open and eligible to all players. Excluded events include the Casino Employees Event, the Seniors Event, the Super Seniors Event, the Ladies Event and the WSOP National Championship.

We are proud to welcome GPI as the official sponsor and formula for this year's WSOP Player of the Year. From here on out, this award will be known as the "GPI WSOP Player of the Year" and that means several great things for participants. GPI's formula has become the industry standard, used throughout the world and recognized as the formula best balancing the various factors of a poker tournament - buy-in level, game variant, number of entries and finish. The winner of the GPI WSOP Player of the Year will be awarded a uniquely designed trophy to be awarded live during the November Nine finale, as well as the aforementioned permanent banner.

So please continually check in on this leaderboard throughout our events to see who's moving up and who's moving down. And head over to our friends at GPI to better learn about their exclusive formula and the entire list of players with GPI WSOP Player of the Year points.
