EVENT UPDATE

Saturday, July 29, 2023 1:30 AM Local Time
A Bunch of Players Advance to Day 2

With more players on Day 1B than on Day 1A, 362 as compared to 185, the bubble happened earlier and went a lot faster. And as was the case in Day 1A, Day 1B ended with a decisive chip leader: previous WSOP Circuit Ring winner Eric Bunch.

Bunch held a top 5 stack from the first level all the way through the day, consistently winning pots on his way to 1,100,000 in chips and a 255,000 chip advantage over the field. He will surely enter Day 2 with one of the largest stacks in the field. As of the end of Day 1B, his tally is second only behind that of Day 1A chip leader and 2-time Ring winner Will Berry who bagged 1,280,000.

Also among those advancing to Day 2 was 5-time WSOP Gold Bracelet winner Scotty Nguyen, sporting two of them throughout the day on his wrist. By the end of the day, his table appeared to be the loosest in the room, laughing and telling stories throughout the night. Several people asked to take pictures with the WSOP legend and he was more than happy to oblige, baby!

Other notables who were unable to advance to Day 2 included Maurice Hawkins, and Ashley Frank who said on Instagram that she will not be firing another bullet on Day 1C.

For the 45 players who did advance to Day 2, they'll be taking seats on Sunday at 12pm CT, combining with the 21 players who made it through Day 1A and any players that advance on Saturday after Day 1C.

Here's a look at the top 10 Day 1B leaders heading into Day 2:

1 - Eric Bunch - 1,100,000
2 - Jeff Early - 845,000
3 - Jared Hemmingway - 812,000
