Sam Laskowitz demonstrates once again that baby rungood is real with a win in the $2,200 High Roller

Sam Laskowitz captured his first WSOP Circuit ring with a victory in Event #10: $2,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller at the WSOP Circuit at Horseshoe Las Vegas. The tournament drew 126 entries, creating a $252,000 prize pool, and after battling through a tough final table, Laskowitz locked up the $62,866 top prize.

The final showdown came against David Cabrera Polop, who finished as the runner-up for $42,433. Laskowitz, who was previously heads-up for a WSOP bracelet and has an NAPT title under his belt, had been knocking on the door for a piece of WSOP Hardware for awhile. To make the moment even more special, the win came just five weeks after the birth of his child. “I hope this is the start of the baby rungood,” he said with a smile.

Winner’s Reaction

When asked if winning the ring meant anything to him, Laskowitz didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely. As much as you want to come out here and just play good poker, winning means a lot.”

He admitted the moment hit him on a deeper level. “Talking about winning gets me a little emotional. Poker can just be showing up and you lose, and lose, and lose, over and over, and I’m even having a good year, but it just feels so good to win. You know?”

His journey through the final table wasn’t easy. “I was kind of cockroaching around until four-handed and got a big double.” That hand gave him the momentum to push forward and eventually seal the victory.

Laskowitz has been focused on high-stakes, smaller field events, and this win proved he’s on the right path. “Yeah, this is kind of my specialty if you look at my track record. Lately, I’ve just been playing these smaller field events with bigger buy-ins. This is even on the smaller end, but I tend to do pretty well.”

The final table was a battle, and Laskowitz knew he had to earn it. “The final table was tough, no one was just giving it away.” But after several close calls, this time, he made sure to close it out and finally claim his first WSOP hardware.

Congratulations of the first of many, Sam!
