Wearing a custom made Houston Astros jersey with his name adorned on the back and joined by his small dog "Zara" in his pouch, James Temple conquered the 547 player Seniors Event field after a long final table to take home his first ring and $20,576.
"I won a big event for about $250,000 a very long time ago now." he said after his win "This is my first big win in a long time."
It was a win that was not easy as the final table's pace came to a screeching halt at four-handed which would go on for at least a couple of hours. Three-handed and heads-up would take some time as well before Temple defeated Mark Estes to confirm his big win.
"I called it that I was going to win this. My buddy told me he remembers me calling it and I did it so now they are all in awe."
Temple was particularly excited about winning the Tournament of Champions seat as he was already starting to plan the trip to Vegas out loud. And yes Zara will be coming with him to Vegas, as she has before.
